The key question is does what is different between vpn and regular internet?

All vpn is a form of internet but not all internet access are vpn. VPN is more secure and private than other internet access.
For example I am going to give an example of banking environment. Probably you know that all banking branches are linked to head office. and interlinked to each other branches. however, head office can decide whether provide to public limited excess or not. And banking system usually operates under VPN. VPN only allows connectivity among save secure IP address or public IP address that use firewall device or VPN server.

VPN is not only used by private companies or private profile but also used by common internet users to connect proxy type network.

VPN provides more security and keep user identity more secure.

Do you need to use VPN to access your Social media?

No, you do not need to use VPN to access your social media due to internet security reason. You can easily maintain internet security and keep your privacy secure. To do so you just require basic knowledge of internet security and how to browse website safely.
